You probably wouldn’t be surprised if I tell you that making money online IS possible and online business is actually the main source of income for many people nowadays. But who are all of these people and what do they actually do on the Internet to be able to earn on living and how can YOU start your own online business too?

I’m going to answer these questions, but before, let’s talk about why you need it all. What is your goal? What would be your motivation to run a money-making online business from home? Would it be a strong desire to quit your full-time job, buy a new house or go on a trip to the place you’ve always wanted to visit?

The Ideation

Narrowing down your thoughts as much as possible and choosing one particular idea helps A LOT. It is something that will be pushing you forward when things become tough. Once you have a certain goal for what you do, you will be much more determined and most likely to succeed in your journey as an online entrepreneur.

If you’re just like me and used to spread yourself too thin all the time, read The ONE Thing (The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results). I think it will be useful for creative entrepreneurs and many other people who want to become more specific goal-setters. I wish I had read it earlier, because the way it has changed my daily routine and my understanding of every day tasks just blows my mind.

Talking about one particular goal for starting your business, I’d like to give some examples. Let’s say you’re fed up with your current job and simply hate being stuck to 9-5. You don’t want to do all this work anymore, which you’re not passionate about at all. You wish you could stop wasting your life and actually start doing something you really WANT to do.

Or you are a mom who has to stay at home with her children, but still wants to bring at least little amount of income to her family budget. There’re tons of similar cases and if you find yourself in one of those situations, I highly suggest you starting an online business, as it is a great chance to do what you love and help your family financially at the same time.

So, what are the most popular proven types of businesses that enable you to make money from home?

1. Blogging

Blogging is a wonderful thing. Telling the truth, I’ve been putting off opening the blog for more than a year. I was constantly asking myself: what should I write about? will at least anything from what I say be interesting to anyone? am I experienced enough in the topic? and so on. But finally, here I am writing my blog post and what can I say?

Start now. Don’t put off any longer, because that right moment will never come actually. If you’ve been thinking about starting a blog, do it right now with what you have and stop comparing yourself with others.

No one is you and that is your superpower. The world needs YOUR voice and the perfect chance to share your thoughts is to start a blog. Find what you’re most passionate about, see the audience’s needs and then choose the niche to write in, which is the most suitable for you. The efforts you put into your blog will eventually pay off and it’s up to you whether to leave it as hobby or turn it into a profitable business.

So, how to start your own blog?

The two main things you need to create a website are domain name and hosting. Domain name is your blog’s address which you type in to open a site and hosting is a place where you create your blog.

A good hosting means having a strong foundation to your website and your business. And considering all the support you receive, it won’t cost you a fortune. I know that Bluehost, for example, is offering very nice hosting plans right now. I personally use them and have never had any problems with these guys. You can get your own hosting plan starting at 3.95$/month HERE.

You may probably think why you should buy a hosting and a domain name when you can use such platforms like  WordPress.COM or Blogger for absolutely no fee. But the thing is that nobody will treat your website seriously if it has “” or “” at the end of your domain name. First level domains look much more credible and professional.

Monetizing your blog

There’s a bunch of different ways you can earn money with your blog. Basically, all successful bloggers use pretty much the same things, which are:

• Affiliate links (Amazon Affiliates, Shareasale, etc. )
• Sponsored posts (Different brands who pay you for promoting their products in your post)
• Advertising (e.g. Google AdSense)

These are the most powerful methods to earn money as a blogger, even if you are just starting out.

2. Create and sale your own product

This strategy actually comes from the previous one, but the focus here is that once you’ve created a blog and gained an audience you can sell your own online course or an eBook. This is the best illustration of passive income. You create your product and then it keeps making consistent income without you actually doing anything.

You don’t have to be an expert to create a digital product.

I believe that even if you’re a not a professional blogger, you’ve probably gained some experience already from reaching to the point where you are right now, so you can share that knowledge with your readers and teach them some helpful and useful tips on a particular topic, which you’ve already learnt.

3. Offer your design/website development/other services online

If you’re a good at graphic design, creating websites or writing articles you should definitely consider opening a website with your services.

For example, the average full-time freelance writer makes $2,000-$3,500 a month and the average income of a full-time designer is $5,000.

List your services online, show your portfolio and start promoting yourself. You can register on CreativeMarket and start selling there your graphics, fonts, wordpress themes, stock photography, etc. This is my absolute favorite website when it comes to finding unique and attractive fonts for my logos and styled stock photos to use on my website.

They also have an awesome partner program. By joining it you will earn 10% of every purchase from all new customers you refer to Creative Market. And you can literally make money after a couple of weeks since you’ve started sharing products you love.

I know many people who earn up to $1,000 on that program and I will probably write a entire post on that topic, so you can learn how to join and make money as well (even while you sleep)!

4. Sell products on Etsy

Are you good at crafting? For example, knitting, making earnings, sewing? If yes, Etsy is your number one platform for starting a creative business.

A few of my friends actually run their own businesses on Etsy, some of them are full-time Etsy sellers. And the good thing is that you can not only sell handmade products, but digital items as well.

Some of you may probably know that I run an Etsy store and, to tell the truth, since opening it back in 2016, my business has grown immediately. Initially I was selling some graphics, prints and clipart, but now I’ve switched off to creating wordpress themes and developing websites.

Opening an Etsy store can definitely turn your hobby into a profitable business and make you a full-time creative entrepreneur.

5. Start a YouTube channel

Youtube is another great opportunity to develop your brand and make money. This platform hides so many amazing opportunities for everyone who wants to start their own channel. Yet you have to work harder to get to the point when you are able to make money with YouTube.

But if this is really something you love, go for it!

No matter what you create (vlogs, educational or travel videos), if you make an interesting and unique content, you’ll find your loyal audience and you hard work will pay off.

I know the idea of opening your own online business may seem totally overwhelming sometimes, but it is so rewarding at the end of the day. I encourage you to set a particular goal in your mind and always follow it especially when you feel uninspired and unmotivated.

And of course, consistency is the key. If you keep doing your work so it becomes your routine, you’ll 100% grow your business. And to make money you should be really interested in what you do and love what you do, as well as  know who you’re doing it for. Find out your audience’s needs and interests and create something useful for them to make it a win-win game.

So these were the 5 proven methods of starting a money-making online business. I hope, this post wasn’t too all over the place and you’ve managed to get something valuable from it.

And of course, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. I’m always ready to answer them.
